End Of Year Awards Night
Friday night saw the clubs first ever End of Season dinner/awards evening, hosted by the fantastic Harry’s restaurant. The black-tie event saw the team wear their best clobber and everyone scrubbed up really rather well! Good company, great food and plenty of booze made for a fun filled evening!
Plenty of awards we’re dished out..
Team player went to Ed Isaac – the man responsible for the legendary “Isaac pass”, Most improved player, to Erika Brown and Max Anderson scooping the double of players player and best newcomer. With the traditions out the way, we could move on to what we’d all been waiting for.. the “Paper plates awards” with complimentary “free hugs from the captain” vouchers (which can be enforced at any time)
From best socks to the “Paula Radcliffe” award and most aggressive player to most tolerant girlfriend (to name but a few) all paper plates were gratefully received. (some more than others). Hubs did the team proud enforcing his “courage” drinking game, which came round to haunt him, downing a pint of all the alcohol that should not go together! Whilst Emma had inadvertently set up a team photo shoot to show off their awards!
The evening was rounded off with a well delivered speech from Club Captain James Webber, thanking individual players for their achievements this year in growing our club and sport! However, he may have been interrupted by the ever present Hubs wishing to use just one of his 3 "Free Hug vouchers"! James .. Happily/begrudgingly obliged.
The awards evening really highlighted how lucky Exeter Touch Rugby are to have such a fantastic group of ladies and gents. So, a big thank you to you all from the Club. We’re looking forward to the new season with you and the official launch of the Eagle Owls! (sorry Brenden :P) With a new south west league in the pipeline, expect plenty of fixtures!
A Special thank you to Sylvaine and Captain Webber for Organising and hosting such a fantastic and smoothly run evening! Good job!
